Silver Clay

Silver Clay

Silver Clay was invented in Japan in the 1990s. Silver clay is made up of thousands of tiny silver particles held together in an organic binder. As the clay dries, the moisture from the binder evaporates. When heated, it burns away completely leaving only sintered metal.

Silver clay is real silver and can be hallmarked as such.

How Does it Work

The clay is rolled out, cut into shape and the impression pressed into the surface. The clay is dried, refined inscribed and then kilned to burn off the binder and leave a solid piece of silver. The finest of details can be captured in the silver, like fingerprints.
